Join The Walk

2008

Nope. By the end of August 2008 we’ll send you an email to confirm that you’re on our list. Then we’ll email you again next May when we start planning the 2009 walk. You can back out anytime.

If I sign up, am I committed?

To sign up for next year’s
HJ Walk, just send an email to

hjwalk@me.com

Nope. Just a willingness to walk about 15 miles a day without whining. It’s a great way to lose the freshman fifteen!

Do I need camping experience?

There’s some basic stuff you’ll need, like a pack, water bottle, and sleeping pad. But we’ll work together to find tents, cookware and other items that the whole group can share. If you want to go, don’t let the lack of gear stop you — we’ll find a way to help.

What about gear?

No.

I am a Duke fan. May I go?

We’re making this hike an annual Carolina tradition. If you love Carolina like we do, want to honor the people that made it the place it is today, want to discover your university’s history, or just want to meet some cool folks and have fun, please join us for the 2009 Hinton James Walk!

Yes! Alumni, faculty and staff are more than welcome. Bring some friends and make it a reunion! In fact, you don’t even have to be associated with UNC. If you live in Chapel Hill and want to go, please join. If you’ve never even been to Chapel Hill, you’re welcome too. All it takes is a love of Carolina.

I’m not a student. Am I invited?

The best things in life are free. So is this. You’ll have to chip in if you want to share the group’s food, but you’re free to bring your own too. Otherwise, there is no “fee” to join the walk.

How much does it cost?

Yes, camping. It’s not the wilderness, and we’ll be around civilization the whole time, but camping. For more info, see The Route.

Wait, camping? We aren’t staying in hotels?
